Youth Conference
On Saturday, March 17, 2012, please join us for tenth edition of the Holy Trinity Youth Conference (formerly our youth rally.) The day will begin at 10am with music by Anaphora, a local praise and worship band; will include games, Mass, great food, Reconciliation, a chance to meet other youth from the greater Edmonton area (and hopefully beyond), and will end with Adoration. Our keynote speaker this year is Fr. John Gerth. Father John (aka, Father J) has had the incredible blessing of serving the Lord and his Church as a priest for the past 18 years. His greatest joy has never changed in all these years and that is his love of the Eucharist. Fr. J says: Even now, almost 25 years after going into the seminary, I am still amazed that God chose me—the guy who still keeps his long hair, doesn’t like to wear shoes, plays his music way too loud—can you believe God wants this guy, ME, to be a priest for his people?

In the fall of 2002, three local youth ministers (Patrick Fletcher, Pearl Pakula, and Mike Landry) were inspired to host a grassroots level youth rally at Holy Trinity Parish. The first youth rally “Hearts of Stone and Flesh” was hosted on March 1, 2003, for nearly eighty youth. The day featured a live band, guest speakers, small group discussions, Mass, and a dance.
The youth rally has become an annual tradition at Holy Trinity, welcoming anywhere from 110-230 youth each year for a day designed to excite, inspire, and challenge youth in their Catholic faith. In 2011, we’ll be hosting the 9th incarnation of the youth rally, and many of the youth who attended in the early years have now taken on leadership roles in putting it on.

Our hope and our prayer for this day is that the youth who attend will have a joy-filled and memorable experience, but most of all that they will discover that no one – and no thing – can offer them more than the love of Christ, and that they leave inspired to respond to that love. If you can’t attend, please keep this event – and in particular, the youth who attend – in your prayers.
